In what seems to be a throwback to a time when actresses like Noorjehan and Suraiya sang their own songs on screen, it seems the present generation of actresses want to do the same, too.
After Priyanka Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, it is Parineeti Chopra’s turn, who will be making her playback singing debut with actor Ayushmann Khurrana in Meri Pyaari Bindu, the upcoming film that they are starring in together.
Says an excited Parineeti, “Ayushmann and I are both keen students of singing. So a duet is only natural. In fact we’re both constantly singing and humming loudly on the sets to remind the director Akshay Roy that we’re waiting to sing our duet.”
Parineeti sees the trend of actors singing for themselves to be very healthy.
“It’s good that so many of us are singing for ourselves. I may not have the perfect voice. But I know my capabilities. And I know my voice and how to project emotions with it. When I sing for myself I sing how I feel,” says the actress.
