Not every television anchor turns into a successful actor when they venture into films. With the exception of a few like Sivakarthikeyan, many are still struggling to make it to the big screen. Now, Rajkamal, former VJ and telly actor who is trying his luck in tinsel town with Chandikuthirai, is confident of breaking the jinx and making a mark in the industry — “I have been waiting for the right script for a long time. The film has a good story and people can easily connect with it. It’s about the menace of technology and is also a murder mystery.”
Talking about his role, he says, “In places near Pudhukottai, you can find several horse statues made of clay in Ayyanar Temples. They are called ‘chandikuthirai’! People offer those horses to God when their wishes are fulfilled. I play Ravi, who makes these horses. It’s a story of how selfies taken in private moments get leaked when their mobiles are given for repair and the repercussions of which can result in murder. How I get entangled in the controversy and resolve the issue forms the crux of the film.”
Rajkamal, who sports a look akin to Karthi in Paruthiverran, says that his character will be appreciated as he’s given it his all. Manasa from Mollywood debuts as the heroine, while Anbumathi directs the movie.
